Aug. 26th,

So this past week has been great. I have found out that we will most likely get iPad minis tomorrow and so I will send some pictures next preparation day. One of the big events that happened here in Magna was the Magna Arts Center where there were booths and bands that played. The reason why we went was because of two part active families that went. The Scogerboe's (One of the part active families) children were playing and that is in some pictures that I sent home. In fact Elder Hixon went up there with them and sang. I had the great opportunity to teach my first lesson to a non-member. The first lesson was the lesson one; the restoration. the spirit was so strong that our investigator Cruze was shaking. We have another appointment with him today so I hope that it will go great like it did in the past week. Yesterday (Sunday) we were part of a meeting that happened at 6:30 am which was called "The Work of Salvation" One of the member of the Seventy came to come talk about ward councils. There was some great information that was gained. I don't know if they will show it later on, but it seems like they will.  This has been a great week so far.

Aug. 6th,

Hey everyone! The mission is going great! Even though it has only been six days I am learning lots. I have a trainer, Elder Hixon and he has been teaching me the ropes here in Magna. Everyone carries water bottles so I haven't really tasted the Magna water yet, but I hear that you can chew it.

Everything is so close here that you could walk to any place no problem, but biking gets you everywhere much faster. The Stake Center is a couple blocks away which means that we can walk or bike there in no time at all. I did get a bike, but I have had a lot of trouble with the goat heads on the roads. A goat head is a thorn that can puncture your tires very easily if you don't have any protection. The goat heads are basically invisible to the human eye as you ride your bike so they are hard to maneuver around. There are some pictures of my bike along with many more of the MTC and my mission.

People weren't kidding when they said that Tongans/ Samoans will give you money. It was my second day in the field and a six foot, five Samoan came up and said that he would pay for my groceries! The total that it came to was $52 and he paid for it all! He said his name was Brother Fifia and that someone must be taking care of his brother that's on a mission so he should do the same. Oh and it isn't just Tongan or Samoan that pays for you, many people do it as well. Elder Hixon and I were going out to eat and a lady said to order anything and she would pay for it. I didn't want to get anything to big because we get fed dinner every night.

Soon we won't need planners, an area book, or paper for very long. The reason......iPad Minis for all the missionaries in the Salt Lake City West mission! They will have a planner app, an area book app, and you can take notes on it as well. I will be using the iPad mini for the rest of my mission. No longer will I have to go to the computers to email, but I can just email sitting in my mission home. We will still have to go to the computers print something off, but that will be the only reason why we will need to use the computers.

I now have to get a different backpack because of the change. I will show you all the pictures of the bag and the iPad mini when I get them both. I am starting to get used to the grid system here. I know which way is west always and which way is east always because of the mountains, the little ones are on the west side and the big mountains are east. Each block is used by the number of hundreds. the whole grid system starts from the Salt Lake City Temple, so the Salt Lake City Temple is the center which makes sense because our focus needs to be on the temple, no matter where we are. meetings here in Magna are backwards then everywhere else. You start out by going to Priesthood/ Relief Society, than you go to  School classes (Young men, young woman, etc), than you have sacrament meeting. The times for each are funky to. Talk about getting used to the culture!
